2.1 Language Exemptions

Applicants who wish to study at the University of Ottawa may be eligible for an exemption from taking the language proficiency tests and submitting the tests scores if they belong or possess one of the following:

  • You have completed your previous study in any of these countries where the language spoken is English.
  • You are an Ontario high school graduate who has achieved a final grade of 80% or higher in an English 4U course.
  • You have reached a minimum grade of 5 in the International Baccalaureate English A course.
  • You have obtained at least 18 Ontario school courses, excluding ESL and technical courses, while completing a study at a school inside Canada.
