York University exempts applicants from submitting English language proficiency test scores under certain conditions:
- You have previously studied in Canada for four consecutive years at an accredited institution where English (or French) is the primary medium of instruction, or you are from any of these certified countries whose native language is English; or

- You have completed one year of studies in a university program whose country’s native language is Engish or in an institution where English is the medium of instruction
- You have completed two years of studies in a college diploma or applied degree program whose country’s native language is Engish or in an institution where English is the medium of instruction
