Wellcome Fellowship – For International Students from Low and Middle-Income Countries

We are happy to announce that the Wellcome Fellowship 2019/2020 has opened its application for the month of August. According to the official website of the Wellcome Fellowship, this scheme has been designed to provide nationals of low and middle-income countries with the opportunity to receive training at a Master’s degree level. The only requirement for the host organization is to be located in a low or middle-income country outside of India.

This Fellowship lasts for a total o 30 months and applicants are allowed to hold it on a part-time basis if this is what they are looking for. The first 12 months will be dedicated o doing a taught of MSc (Master of Science) course which can be performed at any center of excellence that is recognized worldwide. The next 18 months will be used for the research project that is eligible at any organization that is located in a low or middle-income country.

Wellcome Fellowship 2019/2020: Benefits

The question that everyone must be asking right is what are the benefits that this Fellowship brings? The answer to that question is a whopping £120,000 and the following benefits:

  • Support during the Master’s course (including a stipend, travel costs, approved tuition fees)
  • Support during the fellowship (including a basic salary, personal removal expenses, research management and support costs, research expenses)

Wellcome Fellowship 2019/2020: Criteria

Here are all the requirements that all interested applicants must meet in order to be considered eligible:

  • Be a national of a low- or middle-income country
  • The proposed research focuses on a health priority in a low- or middle-income country
  • Have sponsorship from an eligible host organization in a low- or middle-income country.
  • Hold a clinical or non-clinical undergraduate degree in a relevant subject
  • Be at an early stage in his/her career with limited research experience (but he/she must have demonstrated interest in, or aptitude for, research).
