Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships at the University of Edinburgh – Study in the UK

The Scottish Government is now partnering with multiple Scottish Higher Education institutions to provide outstanding students with the chance of getting their Master’s degree from prestigious universities. The Scottish Government is offering a total of 50 awards to students from selected countries for a period of 1 year of taught postgraduate Master’s course with Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships Program. The course is for selected subjects that are available at any of Scotland’s higher education institutes. This also includes the famous University of Edinburgh.

Supported Fields of Study and Target Group

One-year Master’s program at the University of Edinburgh in subjects related to the following themes:

Science
Technology
Creative industries
Healthcare and medical sciences
Renewable and clean energy

Online distance learning courses are not eligible for the scholarship. Furthermore, the target group is nationals of Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Japan, Pakistan, and USA.

Benefits:

Each scholarship will amount to £8,000 and will be tenable for 1 academic year. The award will be deducted from tuition fees.

Criteria:

The scholarships will be awarded to citizens who are permanently and ordinarily resident in Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Pakistan, and the USA, and who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for a postgraduate 1-year Master’s program of study in eligible subjects at the University of Edinburgh.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the international equivalent of a UK first-class or 2:1 Honors degree at the undergraduate level.

Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer by the scholarship closing date. Those who have completed an undergraduate degree in Scotland are not eligible.
